The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, highlighted the importance of Mexicans who emigrate to the United States to work, stating that without them, the United States would not be what it is. During an event in Oaxaca, she pointed out that Mexicans significantly contribute to the U.S. economy in various sectors, such as agriculture and services.

Sheinbaum reiterated her support and solidarity with Mexican migrants, ensuring that if they return to the country, they will be received with open arms and provided with the necessary support. This statement arises in the context of the immigration raids that began after Donald Trump took office as president of the United States, who has promised to carry out a campaign of mass deportations.

The Mexican government has expressed its commitment to protect its citizens in the United States through consulates and the 'Mexico Embraces You' program. There is concern in Mexico over the mass deportations announced by Trump, as Mexicans make up a large portion of the undocumented population in the United States, and their remittances are an important percentage of the Mexican GDP.

In this context, the revocation of a directive from the Biden administration that prohibited raids in places like schools and churches has generated uncertainty in the migrant community. Despite this, Mexico has committed to providing support to its nationals who may be affected by these measures.
